Little Horwood Recreation Ground
Update from the
Recreation Ground Committee – May 2011
Thank you to all that supported
our Open Day on the 22nd May at the Recreation Ground.
We feel that the new developments really help us in our
aim to ‘provide well-maintained, 'fit for purpose' and
safe recreational facilities for the village, which are
easily accessed by all, and cater for a wide variety of
recreational and leisure activities for villagers, the
wider community, and visitors to the village’.
With a grant of £17,440 from AVDC’s Community Chest, a
partnership with Vale Aylesbury Housing, we were able to
provide the village with a MUGA, a multi use games area
- offering Tennis, football, Basket ball
We were lucky enough to be awarded a grant for £9,269
from the Big Lottery Fund, through their Awards for All
programme. The grant enabled us to develop the
hard-standing area outside of the hall, improve access
into the hall and create a driveway, which means we now
have a car park.
Waste Recycling Group Limited (WRG) is the landfill
operator which donates a percentage of its landfill
taxes to WREN via the Landfill Communities Fund. Without
WRG’s fantastic generosity WREN would not have been able
to give us a grant for £46,000 to fund the toilet
refurbishments, the PV panels and the rainwater
harvesting system
The whole community is encouraged to use these new
facilities for events, evening classes, sport clubs etc…
