It’s been over 6 months since our last update and we have been making slow but steady progress on the path to restoring our lovely bells. The good news is we have been successful in two grant applications and have been recently awarded £10,900 and have another small one pending. So in addition to previous secured funding, including the generous pledges from two village families,  as you will see from the totaliser,  we still have a  way to go. So as they say, all donations gratefully received!

We have been liaising with local schools as part of our project. We hope to include schools to give children the opportunity to learn more about bells and bellringing. In order to keep this art alive and our bells sounding out into the future, engaging children is key. On the whole we have had a positive response so far.

We have also been in contact with Bucks Museum, who came out for a visit in November, to give us guidance on how best to preserve the current frame when it is removed. The current frame is fascinating; it’s a real time capsule of craftsmanship from over 350 years ago and more in some areas. So before any work starts we will be opening the tower up to give everyone the final opportunity to see this in situ. So if you are interested in history, craftsmanship, woodworking or even campanology watch this space for further information on the date (sometime in April). It is quite a climb to the top of the tower and a little bit of a squeeze in places, but it’s well worth it; we hope to see you there.

We also have a little something in the pipeline for the fete, again more details to follow…

If you feel you are able to offer any help, support, ideas etc etc we would love to hear from you. We are currently a small steering group but as move towards implementation of the project we hope to expand our happy band!!B
