Little Horwood Action Group -
LHAG
LHAG is a group of residents
joined together primarily to track proposed large scale
developments in the district, county and region that may
have an impact on our village, and respond to threats to
our local rural environment caused by Little Horwood’s
proximity to the immensely successful and ever-expanding
Milton Keynes.
LHAG has recently been involved
in opposition to the Stearthill Golf Course development,
which was also opposed by Little Horwood Parish Council.
We were also part of the successful local campaign
against the Greenway / Winslow Green development, and
were delighted by the news that the developers have
chosen not to appeal against A.V.D.C’s decision to
refuse planning permission.
Current concerns
include:
-The Salden Chase Development –
This huge development will have an impact on all our
local communities, particularly Newton Longville,
Mursley, and Little Horwood, but does fall within the
Local Development Framework, and is now inevitable. The
North Bucks Parishes Planning Consortium amongst others
have been campaigning to restrict the scale of this
development ever since it’s
inception and have succeeded in confining it to it’s
current boundaries, formed by the A421 and the
old Oxford to Bletchley railway line. The current
priority is to ensure these boundaries are “set in
stone” as a permanent limit to urban expansion in this
direction. Milton Keynes Council’s bid to assume control
over the new settlement is of particular concern.
-Stearthill Golf Course – LHAG will continue to monitor
this development both during construction, and when the
facility opens to ensure that the development remains
consistent with the plans approved by the District
Council.
-The East-West Rail Link.
-The expansion of operations at Luton Airport and the
separate plan for re-routing of aircraft leaving and
approaching the Airport.
